Socrates-The father of western philosophy and ”Gadfly”

Here is a man who lived during  470/469 – 399 BC period and known as the founder of western philosophy He is an enigmatic figure known chiefly through the accounts of classical writers, especially the writings of his students Plato and  Xenophon .We the quest forum has been quoting him very often.The central theme of the forum ‘unconsidered life is not worth living” was taken from him.The Oracle of Delphi said that he is wisest man ever born.It is interesting to learn why was he called directly from horse’s mouth(see his defense in the second video below- apology)See a video below to get an idea about his life.

It is interesting to hear the Apology of Socrates is a defence against the charges of “corrupting the young” and “not believing in the gods in whom the city believes.
